Year: 4

POSt: Nutritional Science Major, Health & Disease Major, Immunology Minor

Fun Fact: I discovered my passion for nutrition and baking when I was 6 (I would read the nutrition facts table and watch cooking videos in my free time!).

Why I joined NSSA: My experiences as NSSA's secretary in my 3rd year could not have been any more fulfilling. I found people who shared similar interests, and some who brought new perspectives. I want to provide a welcoming space for students to connect and find their path at UofT, just as I had by joining NSSA.

Year: 3

POSt: Nutritional Science Major, Pharmacology Major

Fun Fact: I still don’t own a pan

Why I joined NSSA:

I was first introduced to the field of Nutritional Sciences when I spontaneously signed up for an NSSA cooking event in my first year. My team worked together to prepare one of many courses of a summer meal, and what I expected to be just a fun afternoon became my first glimpse into how nutrition connects with health and society. Along the way, I made new friends, learned about the anticancer benefits of different foods, and discovered what Nutritional Sciences is all about.

That experience inspired me to get involved with NSSA because I wanted to help create those same opportunities for others. As a part of team, I hope to build a more connected and engaged Nutritional Sciences community by organizing events that bring students together, introduce them to the many facets of nutrition beyond the classroom, and create a welcoming environment where everyone feels they belong.

Year: 4

POSt: Nutritional Science Major, Neuroscience Major, Psychology Minor

Fun Fact: Ranch dressing and mashed potatoes go really well together...

Why I joined NSSA: The community! I wanted to get more involved in campus life, and I love our beautiful little department. I love love love meeting new people, and so it felt like a no-brainer to join the NSSA. It's also a great opportunity to learn more about the field (to be honest, choosing nutritional sciences was a little spontaneous) and to meet so many incredible and impressive people!

Why I joined NSSA: I joined NSSA as a way to explore my genuine interest in nutrition and food, along with having the ability to connect with others who share this same interest as me! A recent life event has made me realize how big of a role certain foods and proper nutrition plays in terms of your overall health. As busy university students, I understand that proper nutrition is often neglected, so I hope that as a group we can all explore ways to build and maintain healthy habits, especially during chaotic midterm seasons. I'm so excited to be a part of all the great activities NSSA has to offer this term!
